THE BLIND KING'S REIGN
CHAPTER 1

Beth was pacing around in her mated bedroom waiting for Fritz to arrive with her latest order. The poor doggen had been swamped with work since she started having very specific cravings. Well that was pregnancy for you.  And for her it had been quite a trip. Between dealing with her ravenous appetite, a frantic hellren and the whole Brotherhood watching her every move she was surprised she was still sane. Then again she might be in denial. Who the hell knows anymore?  She sighed and gave up on waiting.  Walking out the door she made sure there was nobody around that could scold her since it had been months since she could actually walk on her own two feet without anyone cradling her like a baby. If anyone spotted her, she was going back to her "den" as she had come to call her room.  As she stood at the top of the stairs she saw the challenge in front of her and hesitated. What if she couldn't get to the bottom? Her balance was off, she had to be careful.  Deciding not to be stupid she called out for help, but none was forthcoming. Where was everybody? And more importantly, where was Fritz with her crispy fried chicken, mozzarella bread sticks, onion rings, pecan chocolate sundae and bottle of fruit punch juice? What in the world could be taking him so long to put that simple order together? Her desperation made her forego all caution and she decided to try and get to the foyer. Maybe if she called from some way down the others will hear her.  Three steps later she felt as if she had run a marathon, she panted to recover but a sharp pain in her lower belly extinguished any hope for that.  She couldn't believe it, this couldn't be happening.  When the next wave of pain came however she couldn't ignore what it was.

The young! The young is coming! "Wrath! Wrath! Could somebody come here please?"

Fear made her panic and she tried to ignore the pain in order to get down the steps, but apparently her feet didn't get the memo her brain was sending because they crossed beneath her making her stumble. A squeal escaped her when she lost her balance, one hand she used to protect her belly and another to try and grasp the balustrade. It worked somewhat in the sense that her buttocks absorbed the impact but the momentum threw her into a roll. She was freefalling with no hope of stopping herself so she did the only thing she could think of. Close her eyes and pray to the mother of the race.

"Beth!" she heard her name being called and half a second later she was no longer falling.

"Beth. Oh my God, are you alright? Did you hurt yourself?" Rhage looked her over as he walked downstairs with her in arms.

"My lower belly hurts." She groaned and gasped when a feeling of wetness ran down her thighs. The Brother must have felt it too going by the way he hissed and stiffened.

"What's going on?" Qhinn and John appeared on the archway of the foyer looking very much confused.

"Get Wrath! Beth's in labor. Hurry!"

Qhuinn took on the messenger job as John came closer to check on his sister, his big blue eyes full of concern.

"Come on.  Help me with the doors John. We need to take her to Doc Jane."
John nodded and together the three of them went for the tunnels. But try as he might, he could not help but feel a sense of doom hovering above them.

Oh God. Let everything turn out alright please. For Beth, Wrath and for the whole kind because if the Queen didn't make it through the birth, the race might as well say goodbye to their King.

                                             ***

Wrath was tired, so tired that he didn't care that the whole world was shaking.  Though he had to admit it was fucking annoying when all he wanted was to sleep. However, when the sound of a snap next to his head almost pierced his eardrum, he jumped awake.  The growl that followed made whoever had awoken him take a step back, which proved the person had some traces of intelligence.

"My Lord?" he heard Qhuinn's voice through his drowsiness. He ran a hand over his face to unstiffen the muscles and re arranged his wraparounds.

"Somebody better be dying son. Why the hell did you felt like waking me?" Wrath grumbled.
Qhuinn winced. "Wrath, its Beth. The young my lord, he's coming."

The young vampire saw the king's eyebrows rise over his glasses a moment before he stood and pounded the desk with his hands, making the official documents on it fly about. Qhuinn took one step back, wary about his intensity.

"What did you just say?" the king asked in a breathless voice.

"They took Beth to the clinic a minute ago. Rhage and John are with-" he didn't finish the sentence. Wrath ran by him at sixty miles per hour reaching the stairs before Qhuinn reacted. George, the king's Seeing Eye Golden Retriever stood from his bed in the corner and made as if to follow, but the vampire grabbed him by the collar. It wouldn't do well to have the dog burst into the clinic behind his master. Vampire, doggen or animal, they got in Wrath's way now and he'd trample them.
The Blind King's Reign - A Black Dagger Brotherhood Fan Fiction
This has been in my computer for a while and I could never decide if to submit it or not because of the author's policy on fanfiction. But I decided to share. I have found many friends because of the Black Dagger Brotherhood and I hope to find more.

The world of the BDB and its characters belong to J.R. Ward and I claim none of that belongs to me. I just write the story with that base and add fan characters. I mean no disrespect, I do this for entertainment, practice and out of love for the story.
The preview picture I found in google, credits to the artist, if anyone knows his/her name provide me with it so I can credit properly.
